Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! (Although this should be everyday!) I found a great article that is a good pick me up for teachers, especially since this is the time that teaching can be the most difficult. Students and teachers are both ready for summer and trying to concentrate can be a challenge!
The article Celebrating Unsung Heros, talks about how important teachers are and how difficult of a job it can be! As you all know, it pays very little, and can often be thankless and endless hours of work. Teachers work so hard for their students and it can be easy to forget how important that work is and what a difference they are making! So take a moment to recognize yourself and know that you are making a difference!
I agree, teachers should take the time to appreciate what they do and the affect they have on all the children they teach. I have a very difficult class this year and although I am looking forward to the end, I do realize how much I have taught them and how much I learned from them as well. My aid saw the piles of MLPP folder and all my assessments waiting to be graded and recorded on my testing table. She said that all parents should look at your paperwork and then the would appreciate what you really do.
ReplyDeleteParents definitely have no idea how much work teachers put in! If they could only see what one week is like for a teacher and how many hours they put in I think they would treat them very differently. I often had people making comments about how I am done working at 3 and have all these vacations throughout the year! If they only saw all the hours spent of our own time on working on stuff for our classroom.
